McGees In NYC

"As the Father as sent me, so I am sending you . . ."

- Jesus (John 20:21)

In June, our family moved to New York City where Will became the Lead Pastor of Crossroads Christian Church. Crossroads is a small, but growing church in the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. We cannot think of a more strategic place to plant our lives and continue our ministry than here. We believe that the greatest way to influence the city is to strengthen the local church, and we look forward to helping lead the people of Crossroads toward this end.

But we cannot do it alone. Crossroads is a small church in a very expensive city, therefore we need others to partner with us in this endeavor. We hope that you will consider investing in this mission with us.

Thank you,

Will, Rebekah, Israel, & Edith

Why New York City?

In 2010, Forbes magazine named New York the city with the largest global impact and influence in the world.

8.5 million people live in New York City. 22 million live in the metro area. 2.6 million live in Brooklyn.

40% of the population is foreign born. Nearly 800 languages are spoken.

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

New York City is made up of five boroughs (Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island). Within each of these boroughs are several neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are where community happens for NYC residents. In many ways, NYC is a collection of small towns within one big city.

Crossroads Christian Church is located in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn. Affectionately called "Brooklyn's Gold Coast," Bay Ridge is a large neighborhood in Southwest Brooklyn with a population of 80,000 residents. Bay Ridge is a historically middle-class neighborhood with strong Irish, Italian, and Norwegian roots. However, in recent years, there has been an influx of Middle Easterners as well as many young professionals and young families moving into the neighborhood. New York Daily News ranked Bay Ridge as the best place to raise children in all of Brooklyn.

Bay Ridge is a mixture of rich and poor, young and old, professionals, families, internationals, and native Brooklynites. Jesus came to bring hope to all of these people. In the midst of such diversity, the church has the opportunity to demonstrate how the gospel can bring unity to all people through Jesus. This potential makes Bay Ridge a strategic place for a healthy church to demonstrate the gospel to New York.

Partner with us.

Crossroads Christian Church is currently capable of meeting a portion of the budget that us necessary for doing ministry in Brooklyn. Our vision is to see Crossroads grow in both attendance and in generosity. This leads us to believe that Crossroads can become self-sustainable within four years.

In the meantime, we are inviting others to invest in our vision for ministry in New York City. Our desire is to find partners that look at Crossroads Christian Church as an investment rather than a charity. We believe that partnering with us provides churches and individuals an opportunity to tangibly invest in the mission of God by devoting money, time, and prayer to what God is doing in New York City. This is why we are willing to trust our lives to the generosity of God's people.

We need to raise $52,000 per year for the next four years.

Here is a possible breakdown of different ministry partner levels needed to reach our goal:

15 partners giving $25 monthly ($300 annually)

12 partners giving $50 monthly ($600 annually)

8 partners giving $75 monthly ($900 annually)

6 partners giving $100 monthly ($1200 annually)

4 partners giving $150 monthly ($1800 annually)

3 partners giving $200 monthly ($2400 annually)

2 partners giving $500 monthly ($6000 annually)

In addition to monthly giving, we also welcome one-time gifts.

Please consider partnering with us financially.

All gifts are tax-deductible.

If you prefer to write a check, please make checks payable to "Crossroads Christian Church," with "Will McGee Support" in the memo line.
